A strong IPR portfolio protects Anoto’s assets
The work of creating a strong Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) portfolio relating to digital pen and paper has been in progress since the company was founded in 1999. Already during the first three years patent applications for almost 100 different inventions were filed. Today the portfolio includes more than 250 issued patents worldwide and a large number of pending patent applications that likely will result in further patents in the future. Every year a number of new patents are applied for in order to protect the most recent development of the Anoto technology.

The patents and patent applications relate to all aspects of the Anoto technology, from the Anoto dot pattern, the decoding algorithms, the optics and mechanics of the digital pen, to routing, printing and applications of the Anoto technology. In addition to patents and patent applications, the IPR portfolio includes registered trademarks and trademark applications, design registrations and design applications and domain name registrations.
